New classification for Manganese Ores, reduced; Ferromanganese Slags; Silicomanganese slags

ECHA's request for an OECD 414 - Prenatal developmental toxicity study in rabbit for FeMn slag (the most bioavailable of the UVCB's) resulted in a classifcation for developmental toxicity.  Although the same study in the rats did not show any effects at the highest allowable dose of 1000mg/kg/day, the contrary was observed in rabbits. In rabbits, foetal abnormalities were seen at all treated groups including the lowest dose of 100mg/kg/day leading to a classifction of Repro catergory 2  (H361) for developmental toxicity.

Considering that all there substances are analogues, this classifciation will be readacross Ferromanganese slags (FeMn slags) to Manganese ores, reduced ( Sinter ore) and Silicomanganese slags ( SiMn slags) and eSDS's will be required for all registrants placing these substances on the EU market. 

The classification emanating from this study will trigger the following on the eSDS as a must:
