UK REACH full data requirement alarms industry
The UK’s Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) says companies will need to submit a "full" data package in order to register their chemicals under a UK version of REACH in a no-deal Brexit scenario.
The news, announced at the Health and Safety Executive’s second no-deal Brexit workshop in London last week, was met with disbelief from industry.
Under a statutory instrument, the UK government would set a deadline of two years for companies to provide the data.
The UK HSE plans to run a third workshop, which is expected in early 2019. MARA secretariat will be attending. The Consortium's Steering Committee will also be discussing how best to help its members that manufacture and export into the UK as well as SIEF members that have already bought a Letter of Access from the consortium. A plan of action to suppor the UK REACH registration in the vent of no deal will be highlighted via this website, if the need arises.
