REACH - Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals

REACH - Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals

The EU’s REACH regulation is focused primarily on substances and effects:

  • All EU-based substance manufacturers
  • All EU-based substance importers
  • All EU-based importers of articles containing substances of high concern, or articles containing a substance that is intended to be released where the substance involved is manufactured or imported at a volume ≥1 tonne per year, per registrant

REACH includes substances in isolation (including metals, metallic oxides, and metallic salts) or in preparations (such as metallic alloys). If you are manufacturing any such substance in the EU, or importing any such substance into the EU, then it is essential that you develop a REACH strategy for your business.

REACH-registration deadlines for:

High volume tonnage substances (i.e.>1000 tonnes) was 30 November 2010
Medium volume tonnage substances (i.e. 100-999 tonnes) was 31st May 2013
Low volume substances (i.e. <100 tonnes) was 31st May 2018
