The registered substance ferromanganese Slag (FeMn slag) received a Statement of Non-Compliance (SONC) from ECHA in April 2018. ECHA’s dissatisfaction is on the “lack” of compliance with the chronic exposure endpoint – 90 days study. Mara, on behalf of the lead registrant met with the Spanish CA on June 4 to resolve the matter. Both parties agreed that the 90 days study from analogue substance SiMn slag should be used in conjunction with the NTP study on MnSO4 (to account for the higher concentration on Mn in FeMn slags compared to SiMn slag).
The dossier was updated on June 15th with the above mentioned studies (no new study was conducted for the 90 days endpoint for this substance), and on August 7th ECHA had reviewed the updated dossier and found it to compliant with the Compliance check final decision request.
