ACUTE TOXICITY TO DAPHNIA MAGNA/ MnCO3 (Manganese Carbonate)/ OECD 202 / GLP

Introduction. A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the test item to Daphnia magna. The method followed that described in the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals (April 2004) No 202, "Daphnia sp, Acute Immobilisation Test" referenced as Method C.2 of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008.

Conclusion. The 48-Hour EC50 for the test item to Daphnia magna, based on the mean measured test concentration as test item, was greater than 3.6 mg/l and correspondingly the No Observed Effect Concentration was 3.6 mg/l.

This study showed that there were no toxic effects at saturation.

The 48-Hour EC50 for the reference item to Daphnia magna based on nominal concentrations was 0.65 mg/l with 95% confidence limits of 0.58 – 0.72 mg/l. The No Observed Effect Concentration was 0.32 mg/l.
